I’m a really big fan of Pidgin IM client because for me it’s open source and it works really well. But the downfall of this is that the interface isn’t that great in my opinion but I have found a way to give it a much better look and I will show you how to do this.
Before we begin, make sure you have Pidgin installed and other plugins, I recommend Facebook and Musictracker plugins.
Also one more thing before we start customizing is to make sure you back up this folder “C:\Program Files\Pidgin\pixmaps\pidgin”
After you have done that, exit out of pidgin and lets get to customizing!

Browse to this location C:\Program Files\Pidgin\pixmaps\pidgin and the contents should be like the one in the screenshot (left).
Now download these files, I edited them my self so what you will have to do is just drag and drop and replace all the files. Download
You can either extract it to: C:\Program Files\Pidgin\pixmaps\pidgin or just extract the compressed file and drag and drop, either way will work.
After that is complete, just run pidgin and everything should work just fine, you should have new icons and such.
If all done correctly, it should look something like this, depending on your configuration
If you have any problems implementing this new theme into pidgin, feel welcome to comment below and I will try to help you the best that I can.

Time Warner’s broadband cap plan may result in federal legislation aimed at unfair tiered price structures from Internet providers. If Time Warner thought that its hastily revised broadband cap plan to include an unlimited usage tier would appease U.S. Rep. Eric Massa, the cable broadband provider was wrong. Massa, who represents a New York district where Time Warner is planning to roll out its cap plan, said April 10 he is drafting legislation to prohibit unfair tiered price structures from Internet providers.
Massa responded sharply April 7 when Time Warner said it was introducing a tiered usage cap plan in a three-state trial pricing program.
Time Warner’s Chief Operating Officer Landel Hobbs released a statement on April 9 expressing regret for not adequately communicating to customers its plan to initiate consumption-based billing trials for its broadband Internet services.
The revised Time Warner plan added the unlimited usage plan to its previously announced idea of having 5GB, 10GB, 20GB and 40GB caps. Prices would range from $29.95 to $75.00 a month, and users would be charged an extra dollar for every additional gigabyte they download, up to a maximum of $75. An unlimited bandwidth plan, therefore, tops out at $150.

As some of you may know that I have really been enjoying cooking and trying new foods that are out there and what geek wouldn’t be complete without a BBQ/Cooking Apron? I have found this really cool “Google Master” Apron that I plan on ordering to have when I am cooking inside or cooking on the grill or various occasions.
Also, I been looking for a decent site that sells BBQ aprons and geek stuff like that. When I was first looking for BBQ aprons I did find one site that I liked and I forgot to bookmark it and now I cannot find it again! But I did find another site that has the cooking apron that is powered by CafePress: http://www.cafepress.com/teestyles.273936402
You know of a really cool cooking apron? (for geeks only) please let me know!

So Google has updated their favicon again. Now you may want to updates Firefox’s Google search bar because it has the old Google favicon. Now you have to do this manually so you will have browse to Firefox directory in windows. Now some of you may this is going to take some more time out of your day to do this but here’s some relief.
You can update the Firefox’s default Google search plugin to show the new Google search icon:
- Download this updated version of the Google search plugin. (Right click >> Save Link As)
- Copy it to your searchplugins folder in your Firefox install folder (typically C:Program FilesMozilla Firefox on Windows), and overwrite the existing google.xml file.
- Save the file and restart Firefox.
Now you have the current favicon and can rest.
You do not need to do this anymore, since the latest version of Firefox will have this fix. Thanks.
