I know, Kind-of late cause I kind-of forgot about it.
- A new DVD format that is incompatible with Blu-ray, is HD VMD
- The quality of the data, movie and disc is just as good as Blu-ray but half the cost.
- An HD VMD will cost less because it’s using the red-laser technology that is used in today’s standard DVD players.
- A lot of companies and consumers may think it’s still expensive but it is 200 bucks cheaper than a Blu-ray player which cost around 300-400 bucks. And it’s also just about the same quality.
- There are only 17 movie titles currently made on this format.
- No talks have been made with the big-box retailers to sell this product
- Neither Walt Disney, Universal Studios nor Warner Brothers had any interest in releasing movies on HD VMD.
- However, this format is really affordable for Religious organizations and independent filmmakers to put their content on HD.
