I recently rearranged my desk and wanted to take a good shot of it. I actually don’t mind the setup I have, it’s just I rather have another 22 inch monitor, or even two 24 inch monitors. The only problem is when I add a second monitor I wont have any room for those speakers you see on my desk. So I will have to down size the speakers for something maybe Klipsch Promedia 2.1 sound system, I heard they sound really good so it would be a good alternative. The one thing I love about these speakers is that you can hear everything and has wicked good clean bass.
Do you have another computer right next your main machine? I do, I have little file server right next to my main machine and I was looking up KVM switches a while back and I just wasn’t sure that it would work with my set up, I have a Logitech G15 gaming keyboard and I have heard that people had a few issues with using it on a KVM switch.
So I recently stumbled upon a virtual KVM switch called Synergy, this is open source and they even give you the information and other stuff to help you edit the build if you would like to, But I see no need into doing it, unless you have a good reason.
It works on Windows 95 all the way to Windows 7, Unix, and Mac OSX.
Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It’s intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s).
Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems. Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all.

You can even set it up to auto start when your computer starts up so you don’t have to worry about it.
You do have to have a TC/IP network set up in order to use this, but most of use would have this set up if they have multiple computers in their office/bedroom. It is a great application if you have a windows machine, Mac and a linux box hooked up to 3 different displays and only wants to use one mouse and one keyboard, it works great!
