Flickr had been working on creating a new design photo page and after a few weeks of public review, Flickr has rolled out the newly designed photo page to the rest of the world.
One of the things Flickr did was increased the default view size by 28% So you get to show of your photo even more. Remember when you wanted to view the photo bigger, you had go to the page that had the bigger sizes? Well now you don’t have to, you can just click on the photo and it zooms out bigger using the lightbox feature and you get to see the photo on black which really makes your photos stand out.
The Next thing Flickr did was improve their navigation, you can finally move forward or back with the new newer and older buttons above each photo. You can now click the drop down menu on the groups the photo belongs to and you can also check out the latest photos from there too. Another thing is when you check out the latest photos from your contacts you don’t have to go back to the home page, you can just click next. This makes it much more easier. Read More
In May there was a pretty bad storm else where in Vermont and I guess there was a tornado reported in some town, pretty sweet right? Well when it got to my location it looked like this and it was spinning and everything thing, looked pretty scary. It looked like a super cell, it was pretty bad looking, but all what we got was just some lightening strike and heavy down pours and that was it, didn’t even last 10 minutes and it was gone, rainbow came out and everything, nice blue sky.
But what you don’t know is that I edited this photo with CS5 because there was a house in the way and it was distracting and I wanted to show off the storm and as well as the power of Adobe Photoshop CS5. I used the lasso Tool and then went to Fill and selected Content Awareness and I had to do some other editing to get it to look right, it’s still off, but this looks much better than the original. The colors and the clouds are legit, I insure you, all I did was just removed the house and other distractions that was in the way. But doesn’t it looks pretty cool? And didn’t Photoshop CS5 do a nice job?
So this is something new, I’m going to start making life log entries and maybe one day I will turn these into vlogs but for now it will just be in this format. I thought it might be useful that I could write down my thoughts and what ever else I have on my mind. I will do a few and see how it goes for there.
Anyways, today was an awkward king of day because I woke up around 5am this morning to see snow! Fell back asleep woke up around 6:40am and just as I was getting out of bed the power goes out, but for a minute and there was even more snow outside, ugh, it’s suppose to be spring, I mowed the lawn on Monday and it’s Wednesday with like 8 inches of snow.
I been wanting to do some time lapse photography and I own a Nikon D60 and Nikon sells software for doing this called Nikon Camera Control Pro and it said it supported my camera so I downloaded the trial version, and after like an hour of trying to figure out how to get it to work, I just gave up and started looking for alternative programs and I was lucky enough to find a free one.
That’s right, a free one called DIYPhotobits.com Camera Control, It said that it supported my camera, downloaded the software and installed it and it detected my D60 right away. Though the interface isn’t the greatest, it’s pretty ugly and white, but it gets the job done and does it well.
There is just so much stuff you can do with this camera like tethering, time lapse, exposure bracketing and other neat stuff and they work pretty good. I didn’t have any issues doing the time lapse. I’ll have to test it someday outside. Though using such software like this will require a laptop and a USB cable so you can connect your camera to your computer.
I would much rather download this for free and instead of paying Nikon for some software that never works right. You should go try it, check out their list of cameras that work and cameras that don’t work and then go download it! Also, check out their blog too!
With some time and effort, you could do something like this with this software:
I recently took a photograph in the morning of a sunrise, I woke up and it was around 7am and just happened to look at the window because I noticed a orange glow and so I checked and man was I just blowing away at what I saw. I knew this was the perfect opportunity for a photograph. So I took out my camera chose my wide angle lens and get out their and took must be 70 photos and come out this one as my favorite and it’s been a favorite for everyone else on the internet as well.
I think I may even get this one printed and framed and hung on my wall in my bedroom. I would even love to sell this photograph so others can as well hang them on their walls too. But don’t know what service or how I would go about doing that, any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Have you ever wanted to make your own ID badges? I did. I wanted to make a photographer badge for when I’m at events, such as car shows, which is one of the events I attend a lot. Though I don’t work for no photography company, but I work for my self. So I thought it may be kind of neat to have my own ID badge that identifies me as a photographer/blogger.
So I started looking for online ID badge makers and I found the perfect one from Big HUGE Labs called Badge Maker. You can make your own Photo Badge, Name Badge, Flickr Badge. All of these badges can either be landscape, or vertical. The best is, It’s Free!

Flickr Groups
If you already have a Flickr account and was wondering what Flickr groups are, you just listen. Flickr groups are groups where you can share your photos, get help and view other photos and comment. Flickr groups are a really great way to get your photos out there, there’s a Flickr group for anything, just search for it. Sometimes, you find a Flickr group and a photo gets a comment and it says join our group, but you have to post one and comment 3 and use our code snippet. Do not join these type of groups, sure it may get views but don’t you also want constructive comments on the pictures you take? I do.
I’m not going to target any specific groups, but I am warning to you stay away for these type of groups because all they do is bring along spam comments pretty much. If you get one of these comments just delete it and don’t add it to their group because there will be many other ones. Try to find groups that don’t do this and have a rule thing where you need to post once and comment twice or something.
