A few months ago, I wrote a post about Usernames being taken. I did forget to mention Knowem? Which is really an amazing user name check, they check over 350 sites. So Instead of added it to the old post, I decided to create a small review.
The first thing you see when you visit the site is the incredible easy and simple design that makes searching for your usernames a snap. They have over ten categories for checking your username, such as: microblogging, blogging, bookmarking, music, photos, etc. This is really awesome for checking to see if your username is taken from any of these websites.

Link Sleuth is an excellent program that finds broken links on your website(s). Link verification is done on "normal" links, images, frames, plug-ins, backgrounds, local image maps, style sheets, scripts and java applets. It displays a continuously updated list of URLs which you can sort by different criteria. A report can be produced at any time.
Additional features:
- Simple, no-frills user-interface
- Can re-check broken links (useful for temporary network errors)
- Simple report format, can also be e-mailed
- Executable file smaller than 1MB
- Supports SSL websites ("https:// ")
- Partial testing of ftp and gopher sites
- Detects and reports redirected URLs
- Site Map
If your creating/maintain your websites, this is a really handy program to have installed. I even fixed a few links are my site that I didn’t know that were broken. So why don’t you go download it?
