Google’s new spruced up search mechanism will now include a special section on Google Profiles. 101345_google-profiles

You need not worry if you have common names like John, Smith, Michelle, Britney etc., as you can set up and customize your Google Profile by adding details about yourself.

Also, you can link your social profiles on several popular social networking sites like Facebook, Orkut, Twitter, Bebo, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc. Users can also share their contact details with a specific user group that the user sets up.

Google Profiles are also available at a custom URL like – http://www.google.com/profiles/UserName.

Searching information about a particular person through Google’s index would be better experience if the information has been concisely presented in the user’s Google Profile. Before you add your social networking profiles, make sure you’ve put up appropriate security filters to your public profile. This will minimize the possibility of being stalked, identity theft or even spam.

Happy Searching!
