Windows Vista More Vulnerable To Malware than Windows 2000

Microsoft Window’s Vista was suppose to be the must secure operating system in the history of Windows Operating system line. But according to PC Tools, maker of ThreatFire says that Windows 2000 is more secure than Windows Vista. Current studies from PC Tools said that “Windows Vista is more susceptible to malware than the eight year old Windows 2000 operating system, and only 37% more secure than Windows XP.
Additional studies gathered from users of PC Tools ThreatFire Security service said, Vista let 639 threats per thousand computers through, compared with 586 for Windows 2000, 478 for Windows 2003 and 1,021 for Windows XP. At this rate 639 infections per 1,000 PCs, almost 64% of Vista users should have compromised machines.
According to Microsoft’s studies, they said numbers don’t come close to malicious software removal tool. It ran over 400 million machines in December 2007. From June 2007 through December 2007 the MSRT found malware on 2.8% Vista machines, 7.2% on Windows XP SP2, 5% of Windows 2000 SP4 machines and 12.2% of on Windows 2000 SP3 machines.
My Response
This is quite interesting, because there are tons of malware removal applications and I bet they say all different results. Microsoft’s Malware removal tool may only remove certain stuff. With 3rd party tools such as, ThreatFire might detect more malware. Windows Vista is pretty secure but it still has its flaws and the best way to keep malware off is your self. Any operating system is secure; it’s just the user that runs it.
I run Windows XP and I never get malware or even virus. It just shows people need to have more computer knowledge than just the people that download attachments in their email and then it gets compromised. Also having a really good anti-virus program is very helpful, such as a free one like AVG 8.0, I run it, and I never get malware, spyware or virus.
